Koen Deprez

For four years, artist-architect Koen Deprez (1961) has worked on his PhD dissertation. The problem statement was the oeuvre itself, entitled: Apology for the flight, narrative techniques from the design oeuvre of Koen Deprez. The PhD consists of a book publication, an exhibition and two narrative maps of the oeuvre. The book presentation is organized in the spring of 2020 in the Arenberg Castle of the Catholic University of Leuven. The exhibition and presentation of the narrative maps is planned for September 2019 in gallery Zwart Huis in Knokke.

Initially I was asked to help with the anaglyph technique (1) of the narrative map, but as the project becoming more extensive, my work evolved into art assistance, graphic illustration and cartography.

(1) a stereoscopic picture in which the right component of a composite image in colour (usually red) is superposed on the left component in a contrasting colour (usually cyan) to produce a three-dimensional effect when viewed through correspondingly coloured filters in the form of spectacles.
